How should I interpter what the Bible says about the end of the world?

I wish to know whether what is said in the Bible, about the final signs that suggest the end of the world, (and the Apocalypse lists quite a few), ought to be taken literally or are just there to send us messages about our lives and are just symbolic of what could be wrong in our lives so as to perfect it.

Thanks and regards,
Ruth.

Answer:

Dear sister in Christ Ruth, thank you for your question. You have a good question however I will not be able to give you a straight forward answer and the reason is this, both ways are used for Bible interpretation and for understanding the signs written for the end times. The bottom line is this, you have to read in context whatever you are reading! Some things are to be taken litterally and other things are to be taken symbolically. This requires diligent study!

The best thing to do is to continue to read the Bible and pray the Holy Spirit to continue to illumine your path. I believe that many many times, the Bible expains the Bible itself, but this takes long hours of study, if you are going to do it alone.

When you read the book of Revelations/ Apokalypse it is better to study it parallel with the books of the prophets Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Micah...etc. Read also Matthew24 & 25, Mark 13, I Thessalonians 4-5, etc...

Recommendation:

I encourage you to come and take a Bible Course we are offering starting on Jannuary 11th for three months, at the Bible School of Nations for Christ (NFCbc), at River of Love, 251 Rue d'Argens, Gzira. It is called "Escatology: Study of End Times". May the Lord continue to give you hunger for His Word and give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. (See/pray Ephesians 1;17-18)
